Under limited supervision, performs skilled technical work in the operation of complex equipment in the maintenance and construction of roads and drainage facilities. Also involves office duties and extensive exposure to work in field conditions.

Operates heavy equipment including but not limited to dump trucks, rollers, mixers, loaders, excavators, graders, vacuum trucks, bulldozers, and other equipment to complete road projects.
Performs inspections, maintenance, and keeps records of work performed. Reports road deficiencies and answers public inquiries. Maintains inventory, loads materials, and operates equipment like vacuum trucks for drainage.
Responds to emergencies, adheres to safety standards, and communicates professionally with the public and vendors. Handles billing and material receipt tasks.
Performs other related work and operates other equipment as needed. May be required to perform alternate duties during emergencies.
High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience in road and drainage maintenance and construction. Experience/training in operating specific heavy machinery is preferred.
Must obtain various certifications (e.g., Work Zone Safety, Confined Space, NIMS, OSHA) within specified timeframes. Must hold a valid Florida CDL Class B and be able to obtain Class A.
Ability to work independently, operate heavy equipment, understand safety and traffic regulations, and communicate effectively. Physical ability to perform demanding tasks and lift over 80 pounds is required.
