Job summary

Outagamie County is seeking an Equipment Operator I to support Solid Waste and Resource Recovery Operations. The role involves operating roll off trucks and various site equipment, performing routine maintenance, and collecting records for each project.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with apprenticeship-level equipment experience. CDL Class B with N endorsement is preferred within one year, and on-site training is provided. This is a full-time, on-site role with benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate from high school or G.E.D.
• Equipment Operator I with general labor skills and apprentice level experience operating light duty equipment.
• Employment contingent upon pre-employment screenings (background check, drug screen, audiogram).
• Within one year, CDL Class B with endorsement N preferred but not required; on-site training provided.

Responsibilities

• Operates roll off truck.
• Operates other equipment at various locations on site for landfill diversion or resource recovery.
• Receives basic equipment training on various landfill equipment.
• Performs hand work using tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms.
• Picks up litter and debris independently or with a crew.
• Maintains, cleans, and washes equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
• Performs routine maintenance and reports mechanical issues to staff.
• Completes time/location/equipment records for each project.
• Performs daily pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance on equipment.
• Assists in installation and maintenance of landfill gas collection system.
