Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to operate and maintain trucks and heavy equipment. This includes hauling blacktop, salt, dirt, and stone; plowing snow; performing routine maintenance on all vehicles; and ensuring that all duties are performed in a timely and effective manner. Other duties include patching streets; paving sidewalks; performing concrete work; meter checking; welding metals; sewer work; and executing any needed tasks that arise.

Essential Functions

1. Drives dump truck for hauling materials and snow removal.
2. Performs concrete and storm sewer work, including repairing curbs and storm sewers, driving vactor trucks, cleaning inlets, and repairing inlet grates.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires contact with coworkers across units, resourcefulness to meet departmental needs, and tact/judgment for handling confidential information. Follows established procedures, with performance reviewed periodically.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid PA Class B CDL with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements
• Pass background check, drug test, and Child Abuse History Clearance (dated within one year)

Additional Information

Position subject to residency requirements per City ordinance, requiring employment within York County or contiguous counties within six months of employment.

Full-time employees are offered Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug coverage.
