Description

This role involves operating and maintaining County vehicles, heavy equipment, and performing manual labor activities.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following are illustrative and not all inclusive.)

• Operate equipment including pickups, trucks, tractors, rollers, mowers, loaders, backhoes, excavators, snowplows, paving equipment, and more.
• Perform road maintenance tasks such as pothole repair, concrete work, asphalt overlays, culvert and bridge repairs, shoulder and ditch maintenance, and manual labor like shoveling, fencing, and tree trimming.
• Respond to emergency situations including blizzards, fires, floods, and other disasters.
• Perform snow and ice removal, including applying anti-icing and deicing materials.
• Assist with traffic control and flagging during construction.
• Conduct daily inspections of equipment and vehicles.

Provide good customer service, collaborate with supervisors, and model professional conduct.

• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, perform repairs or fabrication as needed.
• Use hand tools and equipment for manual tasks.
• Paint and sandblast structures.
• Install and repair guardrails, fencing, culverts, and other road structures.
• Establish positive working relationships.
• Transport machinery and vehicles.
• Perform minor vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Collect debris along roads.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. One year of highway maintenance or equipment operation experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations

• Valid Colorado Commercial Driver License Class B with insurance; must obtain Class A for career progression.
• Flagger Certification.
• Complete required training.
