Job summary

A leading resort in Colorado is seeking a Maintenance Technician to manage repairs and upkeep of various resort equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, experience with heavy machinery, and be capable of working in various outdoor conditions. Responsibilities include compliance with safety regulations, managing maintenance standards, and possibly training staff. A flexible schedule with the possibility of evening or weekend work is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of experience maintaining equipment similar to that at Powderhorn Resort.
  • Trained in operation of snow machines and 4-wheelers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical operations on resort equipment.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure safety compliance in operations.
  • Participate in ski lift maintenance when needed.

Job description

Position Summary

To perform complete maintenance and repairs on resort equipment including heavy equipment, road vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, four-wheelers, small engines, and implements.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

Ø Perform mechanical operations on resort equipment.

Ø Develop, coordinate and implement maintenance procedures and standards.

Ø Assure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and Colorado fuel storage codes and regulations.

Ø Assure compliance with established company safety procedures and employee policies.

Ø Assure safety of maintenance operations.

Ø Order and maintain all necessary supplies.

Ø Control and account for daily fuel, oil and gas usage.

Ø Control and account for daily equipment checkout.

Ø Develop, manage and operate budgets.

Ø Participate in the maintenance and repair of ski lifts when needed.

Ø Oversee snow plowing/removal functions.

Ø Conduct weekly safety meetings.

Ø Advise and instruct all mountain personnel on safe operation of vehicles and equipment.

Ø Train employees in the safe operation of snowmobiles and 4-wheelers.

Core Skills

  • Strong background in periodic maintenance and/or repairs of road vehicles, heavy equipment, snowcats, snowmobiles, four-wheelers, small engines, and implements.
  • Basic welding skills.
  • Superior organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, state and county safety codes and regulations.
  • Ability to perform in a stressful, noisy and/or crowded environment.
  • Ability to maintain an orderly and professional work area.
  • Minimal computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office products and company email systems.
  • Must provide own general tools. Company provides specialty tools.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair.

  • Minimum three years verifiable experience maintaining equipment similar to that at Powderhorn Resort.
  • Trained (and capable of training) operation of snow machines and 4-wheelers.

Work Environment

Working Conditions

Ø Indoor/outdoor including extreme temperatures during winter months.

Ø Travel to Grand Junction with occasional out of town appointments.

Ø Must be able to function with minimum supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform the following functions: Stand and/or sit for extended periods,

walk, bend, ascend and descend stairs and uneven terrain, lift up to 100 pounds, tolerate hot/cold temperatures (at times above 100°or below 0°).

  • Must be comfortable climbing lift towers and working over 30 feet above the ground in all

types of weather.

Ø Must have normal color vision and depth perception.

Attendance

Ø 40 hours per week minimum. Work hours are determined by workload.

Ø This position requires the ability to maintain flexibility in a work schedule, which will

include weekends, holidays, and extra hours.

Ø May be called in evenings/weekends as needed.
