The City of Wharton is hiring an Equipment Operator to support maintenance and construction activities. This role involves operating various machinery and performing essential duties related to parks and city property maintenance. Candidates should be experienced in operating construction equipment and participating in public works projects.

DEFINITION
To operate construction and maintenance equipment in support of a variety of activities
including mowing, excavating, grading, loading and related operations; and to perform other
parks, horticulture, or street maintenance related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from higher level staff.
Exercises no supervision.

responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential duties and responsibilities
Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as tractors, trucks, riding mowers,
push-mowers, backhoes, dump trucks, front-end loaders, table saws, sewer machines, spray
paint machines, and various other equipment in support of a variety of maintenance and
construction operations.
Participate in the repair and maintenance of parks, publicly owned properties, city streets,
roads, and rights-of-way.
Excavate drainage ditches and backfill jobs upon completion.
Perform additional grounds maintenance, construction and maintenance tasks such as park
and roadway mowing, seeding, concrete work, truck driving, concrete spreading,
jackhammering, and a variety of minor repair activities.
Operate a power mower to cut grass along roadways and in park areas; spray herbicide and
insecticide.
