Job summary

State-of-West-Virgini is seeking an Equipment Operator in the Transportation Worker 2 role for on-site highway maintenance. You will operate a range of equipment and assist with bridge and culvert repairs, while maintaining tools and reporting work progress.

The job includes an apprenticeship through the U.S. Department of Labor and may require irregular hours and overtime. A Class A or B CDL is required upon employment.

Qualifications

• A valid Class A or Class B CDL is required.
• No formal education required.
• An apprenticeship through the U.S. DOL may be offered.
• Overtime and irregular hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, loader, and trucks.
• Perform major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridges.
• Carry out minor field repairs such as tire, blade, or filter changes.
• Flag and set up traffic signs and barricades; ensure site safety.
• Maintain and fuel equipment; keep accurate time and repair records.
