Job summary

West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) Braxton County Headquarters seeks an Equipment Operator 2 to perform skilled highway maintenance work, operate a range of heavy machinery, and repair culverts and bridges. The role involves field repairs, equipment maintenance, and traffic control duties under supervision.

Position may require irregular hours, shifts, weekends, and over 40 hours weekly; CDL class A or B is required.

Qualifications

• CDL class A or B required; no substitutions.
• Experience with highway maintenance equipment.
• Ability to operate heavy vehicles (GVWR 26,001+).
• Willing to work irregular hours including weekends.
• Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate skid steer, bucket truck, front-end loader, and other highway maintenance equipment.
• Perform highway repairs on culverts and bridges.
• Conduct minor in-field mechanical repairs and equipment maintenance.
• Flag and set traffic control signs and barricades.
• Travel may be required; valid driver’s license required.
