Job summary

Braen Stone Industries is seeking an Equipment Operator for our Whitehall quarry in Whitehall, NY. The role is hourly and non-exempt from overtime, with a typical schedule from 6am to 5pm, Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays.

Primary duties include operating dozers, scrapers, loaders, and excavators; loading/unloading materials; performing general yard tasks; inspecting equipment; and reading manuals for safe operation. Prior quarry experience is strongly preferred.

• Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including dozers, scrapers, loaders and excavators to move materials.
• Load and unload materials with the equipment.
• Perform general yard duties and daily tasks.
• Inspect equipment to maintain safe daily operations.
• Complete miscellaneous jobs as needed by the business.
• Read and comprehend manuals and directions for operation.

Job Description

FLSA Classification: Laborer

Overtime Status: Non- Exempt

Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking an Equipment Operator for our Whitehall quarry (Whitehall, NY).

We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 40 hours are worked each week.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

• Operate various heavy equipment, including but not limited to dozers, scrapers, loaders, excavators, front loaders/back hoes to move aggregate related materials
• Operate heavy equipment to load, unload materials
• General Yard duties associated with daily tasks
• Inspects equipment/machinery to maintain safe daily operations
• Complete miscellaneous jobs according to business needs
• Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions

Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes:

• Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks
• Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions effectively and clearly
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with fellow employees and supervisors

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to climb, stoop, bend/kneel and squat frequently during general inspection of machinery/equipment
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
• Routine pushing/pulling when operating hand controls
• Minimal to light level of lifting is occasionally required
• Daily checking of equipment/machinery for pre-shift compliance
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Hours of work are generally 6am to 5pm Monday through Friday (subject to change)
• Saturday work will be required
• Seasonal lay-offs are a possibility
• Prior quarry experience strongly preferred

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00/ Hour
