Job summary

Savage is hiring an experienced Crane Operator to support the coke drum operations at our port location. You will work with the crane team to move materials, perform decoking steps, and ensure safe, efficient handling of heavy equipment in a 24/7 operation.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, can work independently, and has prior bridge crane experience in an oil field or industrial setting. Eligible applicants must pass required screenings and work a rotating 12-hour schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Bridge crane experience is a plus.
  • Mechanically inclined and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, MVR and criminal background check.
  • Willing to work 12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights).
  • Experience in oil field or other industrial environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proper decoking techniques by following all procedures and monitor hot spots.
  • Un-head and re-head coke drums with Operator and perform final sweep.
  • Operate bridge crane to move coke from pad to grizzly hopper following procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with Crane Operator, Supervision, Managers and Maintenance.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with equipment maintenance when needed.
  • Inspect equipment before and after operation and report maintenance needs.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly across all spaces.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Perform proper decoking techniques by following all associated procedures while paying close attention to hot spots and allowing for extra quenching where needed.
  • Working with the Operator to un-head and re-head the coke drums, as well as performing the final sweep of the coke drum.
  • Operate bridge crane to maintain proper pit & pad storage and load coke from pad to grizzly hopper by following all associated procedures.
  • Maintain good and open communication with Crane Operator, Supervision, Managers and Maintenance Personnel via radio and other proper means.
  • Help maintenance personnel with equipment maintenance when additional manpower is needed.
  • Properly inspect equipment prior to and post operating and report any additional maintenance needs and conduct frequent audits on the crane and other heavy equipment
  • Maintain clean workspace by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility including structures, offices, restrooms, break rooms, vehicles, crane cab, etc.
What You Need To Be Successful
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Bridge Crane experience is a plus
  • Mechanically Inclined
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor-vehicle report and criminal background check
  • Willing to reliably fulfill the following work schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
  • Experience in the oil field or other industrial environment preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Physically able to handle large tools
  • Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend a ladder
  • Comfortable with heights
  • Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl
  • We operate 24/7, therefore our employees work a rotating schedule.
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions: extreme wind, snow, rain, heat and cold.
