Job summary

Savage is hiring for an Equipment Operator role in Port Arthur, TX. You will perform decoking procedures, operate a bridge crane, and work with crane operators and maintenance teams on a rotating 12‑hour schedule in an oil field/industrial environment. A High School diploma or GED is required, with Bridge Crane experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform proper decoking techniques following procedures while monitoring hot spots and allowing extra quenching when needed.
• Coordinate with the Operator to un-head and re-head coke drums and perform the final sweep of the coke drum.
• Operate bridge crane to move materials from pad to grizzly hopper following procedures.
• Maintain open communication with Crane Operator, supervision, managers and maintenance personnel.
• Assist maintenance personnel with equipment maintenance as needed.
• Inspect equipment before and after operation and report maintenance needs; conduct frequent audits on crane and other heavy equipment.
• Keep workspace clean and free of trash in all areas of responsibility.

Here is what you will be doing:

• Perform proper decoking techniques by following all associated procedures while paying close attention to hot spots andallowing for extra quenching where needed.
• Working with the Operator to un-head and re-head the coke drums, as well as performing the final sweep of the coke drum.
• Operate bridge crane to maintain proper pit & pad storage and load coke from pad to grizzly hopper by following all associated procedures.
• Maintain good and open communication with Crane Operator, Supervision, Managers and Maintenance Personnel via radio and other proper means.
• Help maintenance personnel with equipment maintenance when additional manpower is needed.
• Properly inspect equipment prior to and post operating and report any additional maintenance needs and conduct frequent audits on the crane and other heavy equipment
• Maintain clean workspace by removing trash and debris from all areas of responsibility including structures, offices, restrooms, break rooms, vehicles, crane cab, etc.

What You Need to Be Successful:

• High school diploma/GED
• Bridge Crane experience is a plus
• Mechanically Inclined
• Can work independently with minimal supervision
• Committed to working safely at all times including a commitment to the policies and procedures of the operation
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor-vehicle report and criminal background check
• Willing to reliably fulfill the following work schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights)
• Experience in the oil field or other industrial environment preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently
• Physically able to handle large tools
• Must be able to climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend a ladder
• Comfortable with heights
• Must be able to stand, kneel or crawl
• We operate 24/7, therefore our employees work a rotating schedule.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions: extreme wind, snow, rain, heat and cold.
