Job summary

Savage is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair coke handling equipment and associated plant systems in Port Arthur, TX. The role involves preventive maintenance, inspections, and maintaining records. Candidates should have mechanical repair experience, basic electrical knowledge, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical repairs and industrial equipment.
• Basic electrical knowledge (24V–480V); PLC experience is helpful.
• Basic computer skills for entering and tracking work.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred experience on conveyors, cranes or heavy handling equipment.
• Prefer candidates with boilermaker, millwright, industrial service tech experience.
• Experience with industrial maintenance programs or systems.
• Pre-employment requirements may include TWIC, background check, drug/alcohol screening, MVR, fitness-for-duty, and site access credentials.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair coke handling equipment and related plant machinery.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks.
• Inspect equipment before and after shifts and ensure compliance with safety rules.
• Keep accurate maintenance and service records; use CMMS to track work.
• Support Savage Maintenance Program; assist with additional duties as assigned.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Maintain and repair coke handling equipment used in plant operations, including equipment such as:
• Belt conveyors
• Heavy equipment
• Hydraulic and lubrication pump systems
• Railcar loading systems
• Coke drum un-heading and re-heading equipment
• Bridge cranes
• Pumps, motors, hydraulics, etc.
• Other coke handling and refinery machinery
• Performing scheduled preventive maintenance tasks
• Inspecting equipment before and after shifts
• Following all site safety rules and procedures
• Keeping accurate maintenance and service records
• Using maintenance systems (such as CMMS) to track work
• Supporting the Savage Maintenance Program
• Assisting with other duties as assigned

Requirements To Be Successful In This Position

• Experience with mechanical repairs and industrial equipment
• Basic electrical knowledge (such as 24V–480V systems); PLC experience is helpful
• Basic computer skills for entering and tracking work
• Strong organization and time management skills
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred experience working on: conveyor systems and related components, cranes or heavy material handling equipment
• Preferred experience working as: boilermaker, millwright, industrial service tech, etc.
• Experience with industrial maintenance programs or systems
• Ability to meet various pre-employment requirements which may include but not limited to:
• Valid TWIC Card
• Criminal background check
• Drug and alcohol screening
• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review; valid Driver's license required
• Fitness-for-duty assessment to ensure that candidates can safely perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to receive and maintain site access credentials or badges per site-requirements

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Climb ladders and work on uneven or elevated surfaces
