Position Summary

Operate one or several types of power construction equipment to excavate, move, and/or grade material.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Operate a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment for maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on various surfaces.
2. Load gravel, dirt, and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
3. Construct ditches for culverts, water, and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
4. Check and maintain equipment fluid levels and lubrication.
5. Instruct and train employees in safe operation of equipment and job techniques.
6. Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify issues or defects.

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of the position's skills and abilities.
• Effective communication skills, ability to understand and follow instructions.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

Requirements:

• Ability to move about construction sites constantly, standing, walking, reaching, etc.
• Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.

• Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven environments.
