Job description

Role Summary

The Equipment Mechanic will provide routine and non‑routine maintenance support to the day‑to‑day Blue Hat Equipment operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment as per the manufacturer’s specification. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core

• Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostic equipment inspections, and repair operations on breakdowns for construction equipment per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns on site or via the phone using effective communication skills with field operations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and data entry for completed maintenance and repairs.
• Communicate with internal and external business partners through phone calls and emails regarding maintenance related questions.
• Order parts for equipment repair using the work order system by determining manufacturer requirements and specifications.
• Receive, organize, store, and distribute equipment parts and supplies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
• Communication skills, verbal and written.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to learn the operating/accounting system for data entry.
• Knowledge of maintenance operations including: engine oil changes, hydraulic pump and cylinder functions, diesel engine operations, basic electrical functions.
• Ability to identify common end items, parts, and tools.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service through positive interaction with customers.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.

Education

• High School/GED or equivalent (Required).
• Apprentice Program or vocational training on equipment repair (Preferred).
• Relevant experience considered in lieu of the above requirements.

Experience

• 2+ years mechanic or maintenance operations experience (Preferred).

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Typically travel is not required.
• May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
• Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
• Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
