Job description

Role Summary

The Equipment Mechanic will provide routine and non‑routine maintenance support to the day‑to‑day Blue Hat Equipment operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment as per manufacturer’s specification. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostic equipment inspections, and repair operations on breakdowns for construction equipment per manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns on site or via phone using effective communication skills with field operations.
  • Document and enter data for completed maintenance and repairs accurately.
  • Communicate timely with internal and external business partners via phone and email regarding maintenance‑related questions.
  • Order parts for equipment repair using the work order system by determining manufacturer requirements and specifications.
  • Receive, organize, store, and distribute equipment parts and supplies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Pro proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to learn the operating/accounting system for data entry.
  • Identify common end items, parts, and tools.
  • Provide excellent customer service through positive interaction with customers.
  • Knowledge of maintenance operations including engine oil changes, hydraulic pump and cylinder functions, diesel engine operations, and basic electrical functions.
  • Build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally.
Education
  • High School/GED or equivalent (Required).
  • Apprentice Program or Vocational training on equipment repair (Preferred).
  • Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the above requirements.
Experience
  • 2+ years as a mechanic or in maintenance operations (Preferred).
Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Typically travel is not required.
  • May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
  • Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
  • Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
