JE Dunn Construction is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to support daily operations, performing routine and non-routine maintenance on construction equipment. You will diagnose, repair, and document work according to manufacturer specifications, while coordinating with field teams to minimize downtime.

Qualified candidates typically have a high school diploma or GED, with 2+ years in maintenance or mechanical roles and relevant training.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent; apprentice/vocational training preferred.
• 2+ years maintenance/mechanic experience recommended.
• Knowledge of engine oil changes, hydraulics, diesel engines, and basic electrical functions would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on construction equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns on site or via phone with clear communication to field operations.
• Document and enter maintenance and repair data accurately.
• Communicate timely with internal/external partners via calls and emails for maintenance questions.
• Order parts using the work order system by confirming manufacturer requirements.
• Receive, organize, store, and distribute equipment parts and supplies.

Job description

Role Summary

The Equipment Mechanic will provide routine and non‑routine maintenance support to the day‑to‑day Blue Hat Equipment operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment as per manufacturer’s specification. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

• Performs routine preventative maintenance, diagnostic equipment inspections, and repair operations on breakdowns for construction equipment per manufacturer’s specifications.
• Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns on site or via the phone using effective communications skills with field operations.
• Responsible for the accurate documentation and data entry for completed maintenance and repairs.
• Responsible for timely communication to internal and external business partners through phone calls and responding to emails for maintenance related questions.
• Orders parts for equipment repair using the work order system by determining manufacturer requirements and specifications.
• Receives, organizes, stores, and distributes equipment parts and supplies.

Education

• High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
• Apprentice Program or Vocational training on equipment repair (Preferred)
• In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered

Experience

• 2+ years mechanic or maintenance operations (Preferred)

Working Environment

• Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds
• Typically travel is not required
• May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
• Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling
• Occasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
