The Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) in Reno is seeking an Equipment Mechanic 2 to maintain, diagnose, repair, and modify a diverse fleet of light, medium, and heavy vehicles, including Ford Explorers, F-150s, and Dodge Chargers, plus diesel generators.

Expect to use diagnostic equipment, manuals, and service bulletins to determine repairs, order parts, and perform extensive electrical, fuel, and mechanical work under supervision, ensuring patrol operations remain safe and reliable.

Qualifications

• Completion of an automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program or related Nevada state programs.
• OR completion of Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service.
• OR one year experience as Equipment Mechanic I in Nevada State service.
• Equivalent education and experience combination accepted.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose and repair components by test drives, checks, and diagnostic tools.
• Repair/maintain brakes, steering, suspension, transmission, and electrical systems.
• Fabricate/install parts and modify equipment as required.
• Order parts and assist with repairs using manuals and schematics.
• Perform mechanical inspections and ensure safety of the fleet.
