Job summary

The City of Mesa is hiring six Equipment Mechanic I positions in the Fleet Services Department to service and repair fleet vehicles, motorcycles, and fire apparatus, with opportunities across Fleet Services and MFMD. The role requires solid automotive and motorcycle maintenance experience and the ability to follow safety procedures.

Hires before 12/31/26 receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus after probation; second/third shifts include a 2.5% shift premium in addition to standard differential.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of hands-on automotive maintenance and repair work experience (Fleet Services and Fire and Medical Assignments).
• Three (3) years of hands-on motorcycle maintenance and repair work experience (Motorcycle Shop Assignment).
• Successful completion of an industry-recognized automotive or motorcycle maintenance and repair training program may substitute for one (1) year of required hands-on work experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled service, maintenance and repair on fleet vehicles, motorcycles and fire apparatus.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical problems; service heavy equipment.
• Work may include preventive maintenance and work on battery-operated equipment and two-stroke engines.
