Job summary

The City of Mesa has two Equipment Mechanic Trainee vacancies in the Fleet Services Department. This recruitment will fill current openings and establish a Citywide eligible list for future vacancies in Fleet Services and in MFMD.

Hires by 12/31/26 receive a $2,000 sign-on bonus after successful completion of Initial Regular Probation; 2nd/3rd shift workers receive a 2.5% shift incentive added to the base hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of automotive repair training program or two years hands-on automotive repair experience.
• Two years of experience as City of Mesa Equipment Repair Assistant or Preventative Maintenance Technician is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in a three-year structured on-job training program under supervision.
• Progress through training to develop proficiency in maintenance and repair of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles.
