Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a dedicated Equipment Maintenance Technician II to support a range of electronics assembly and production equipment, including robotics, SMT, through-hole placement, PCB soldering, and plastic injection molding systems at our Pullman, WA site.

In this role you will perform advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and preventive maintenance, mentor junior technicians, and contribute to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience.
• Advanced knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment.
• Proficient with modern test equipment to diagnose equipment failures.
• Ability to train and mentor staff.
• Background check and negative drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex equipment.
• Work with little guidance from supervisor and other technicians.
• Mentor Equipment Maintenance personnel.
• Participate on teams to solve complex production equipment issues.
• Enter and maintain accurate entries in the equipment maintenance database.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detailed individual for our Equipment Maintenance Technician II. If you are looking for an opportunity to provide technical support to a wide variety of state of the art electronics assembly and production equipment, including robotics, surface mount technology component placement equipment, through-hole component placement equipment, PCB soldering equipment, and plastic injection molding equipment, while being part of a highly respected company in the electrical control sector, then this position is for you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform advanced troubleshooting, calibration/trim, repair, and perform preventive maintenance of advanced complexity on all manufacturing equipment.
2. Work with little or no guidance from Supervisor and/or other Technicians.
3. Provide mentorship and guidance to Equipment Maintenance personnel.
4. Participate on teams to identify and solve complex production equipment issues.
5. Enter and maintain accurate entries in the equipment maintenance database.
6. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronic technology or equivalent experience
• General knowledge of programming critical path production equipment
• Advanced understanding of electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic technology and theory
• Advanced knowledge of analog and digital electronics
• Advanced knowledge of utilizing modern test equipment to diagnose equipment failures
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment, including analog, digital, and microprocessor circuits as well as vision and robotics systems
• Expertise in Excel, Word, Access and maintenance software
• Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff
• Ability to accept and understand direction, learn new skills and assume new responsibilities with a positive attitude
• Ability to perform assigned tasks under minimal direction and guidance
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL
• Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of programming automated production equipment.
• Basic knowledge of printed circuit board assembly, mechanical assembly, and cable assembly processes.

Pay Range Data

New hires generally start between $24.53 - $46.26 an hour. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location.
