Job summary

Phoenix Metals is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support onsite operations, troubleshoot and repair facilities infrastructure and production equipment. You will assist in wiring, HVAC, plumbing, and vacuum tube systems, perform diagnostics, and help in dismantling and reassembling equipment.

The role requires 0–5 years of relevant experience, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, plus the ability to obtain MHE and rigging Certifications.

Qualifications

  • 0–5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
  • Must meet current MVR quality criteria as defined by regulations.
  • Tradeschool certification in electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and basic knowledge of mechanics required.
  • Working knowledge of electro mechanical systems, troubleshooting and equipment repair required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations.
  • Basic measurement skills and basic math computations required.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge and judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support of onsite operational and maintenance issues involving installation, troubleshooting and repair of facilities infrastructure and production equipment.
  • Perform routine diagnostic tests, evaluate equipment performance, clean and lubricate machinery, and perform minor maintenance.
  • Assist with assembly, installation, repairs and maintenance of wiring, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and vacuum tube systems.
  • Assist in dismantling equipment and removing parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Assist in reassembling equipment after repair or maintenance.
  • Assist in starting up equipment and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
  • Inspect damaged equipment parts and advise supervisor of repair needs.
  • Assist in installation and replacement of machine parts and attachments according to production specs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Safely operate motorized repair and material handling equipment.
  • Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Read maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Order, track and inventory parts; may drive company vehicle for local pickup.
  • Collaborate with other workers to move machines, parts, or equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards.

Job Summary

This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.

Job Function
  • Responsible for providing daily support of onsite operational and maintenance issues involving installation, troubleshooting and repair of facilities infrastructure as well as production and material handling equipment.
  • Performs routine diagnostic tests, evaluates equipment performance, cleans and lubricates machinery and performs minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Assists with assembly, installation, repairs and maintenance of wiring, electrical, HVAC, plumbing and vacuum tube systems.
  • Assists in dismantling equipment and removing parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Assists in reassembling of equipment after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Assists in starting up equipment and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Inspects damaged equipment parts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs.
  • Assists in installation and replacement of machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Safely operates motorized repair and material handling equipment.
  • Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
  • Reads maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Orders, tracks and inventories parts, occasionally driving company motor vehicle (non-DOT) for local pick-up, when required.
  • Collaborates with other workers to move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
Required Skills
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Must possess a Valid Drivers License and be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
  • Tradeschool certification in electrical, HVAC and/or plumbing preferred.
  • Technical aptitude and basic knowledge of mechanics required.
  • Working knowledge of electro mechanical systems, troubleshooting and equipment repair required.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
