Job summary

Cst Industries, Inc. is looking for a skilled maintenance worker to repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment in Parsons, Kansas. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and a solid understanding of hydraulics, mechanics, and electronics.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates welding machine, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates purchase requisition for parts and machines.
  • Repairs electrical equipment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical presses, electronics, and wiring.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and interpret CST and customer prints and documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • The employee is frequently required to walk.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit.
  • Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities.
  • Required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

  • The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
