Job summary

Phoenix Metals is seeking a warehouse associate to join the Plant family. The role involves operating forklift equipment, moving inventory, and supporting metals processing and distribution with accuracy and care.

Candidates should have 1–2 years forklift and 1–2 years warehouse/production experience, possess basic measurement skills, and be able to follow safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment. This is an on-site position requiring physical activity.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to obtain certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
• Clear oral and written communication skills, legible handwriting required.
• Basic measurement skills for length, width, height, and weight; basic math computations.

Responsibilities

• Move inventory or equipment, fill customer orders, pull material from racks, unload incoming material, load trucks and/or customer vehicles, and help maintain the warehouse.
• Receive, place/return items into stock locations; pull and assemble orders based on shipping documentation.
• Tag material for identification and complete required documentation.
• Move material using forklift, side loader, or crane; keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
• Sort and place material on racks or in bins according to size, type, or product code; perform daily checks for proper tagging.
• Report irregularities to supervisor; restock material; ensure safety and quality standards.

Job Function

• Generally responsible for completing basic, routine tasks with detailed instructions.
• Responsible for moving inventory or equipment, filling customer orders, pulling material from racks, unloading incoming material, loading trucks and/or customer vehicles, & helping maintain the upkeep of the warehouse.
• Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.
• Pulls and assembles orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation.
• Tags material for proper identification and completes all required documentation.
• Moves material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas using forklift, side loader, or crane.
• Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Sorts and places material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
• Spot checks on inventory, completes daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
• Reports any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
• Restocks material.
• Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.

Required Skills

• 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
• High School diploma/GED preferred.
• Ability to meet current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) quality criteria as defined by Federal regulations and/or company policy required.
• Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
• Clear oral and written communication skills, particularly legible handwriting required.
• Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
