Job summary

Kiewit is offering an Equipment Engineer Intern position that provides hands-on, real‑world learning in construction management. You will support Regional Construction & Mining operations and focus on planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reliability of a construction equipment fleet.

The anticipated start date is May/June 2027. Candidates pursuing Mechanical Engineering, MET, Diesel, or Automotive Technology degrees should apply; travel or relocation may be required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, MET, Diesel, or Automotive
• Willingness to travel/ relocate
• Ability to work May–Aug
• Strong work ethic and initiative
• Comfort with construction sites and varying environments

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Material handling and procurement
• Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation
• Inspections of equipment and parts
• Logistics management and communication
• Long/short range equipment planning, scheduling, budgeting
• Planning and paperwork for critical lifts
• Use reliability data to increase equipment availability
• Communicate across supervision levels
• Support maintenance technicians with parts, scheduling, quality and safety
• Specialty projects as needed
