Job summary

Kiewit Mining District invites an Equipment/Mechanical Engineer Intern to gain hands-on experience in construction management and fleet reliability. You will support Regional Construction & Mining operations, helping plan, schedule, budget, utilize and monitor equipment.

Anticipated start is May–June 2027. Applicants should be pursuing Mechanical Engineering, MET, Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, MET, Diesel Tech, or Automotive Tech.
• Willing to travel or relocate as needed.
• Available for full-time during May–August.
• Strong work ethic, safety focus, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Material handling and procurement.
• Create and maintain tool/filter lists and documentation.
• Inspections of equipment and parts.
• Logistics management and communication.
• Long/short range equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Planning and paperwork for critical lifts.
• Use reliability data to increase equipment availability.
• Coordinate communications between supervision and management.
• Support maintenance technicians – parts, scheduling, quality and safety.
• Specialty projects as needed.
