Job summary

Tag Systems USA in Eatontown, NJ is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer for a full-time role. You will troubleshoot high-speed printing and automated equipment, read schematics, and work closely with production, maintenance, and IT teams to maintain equipment reliability.

The position requires hands-on problem solving, safety compliance, and the ability to work outside of typical hours to respond to critical equipment issues. Strong mechanical/ electrical skills are essential.

EQUIPMENT ENGINEER CRITERIA

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in an equipment engineering, field service, maintenance engineering, or automated manufacturing role
• Experience troubleshooting high-speed automated manufacturing and printing equipment
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, motors, pneumatics, controls, and automated production equipment
• Ability to accurately read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation
• Ability to properly use manufacturing equipment and printing machinery while following all safety procedures
• Ability to troubleshoot/repair equipment, regularly stand/walk/bend/reach throughout the shift, and work outside of typical hours to respond to critical equipment issues or support business needs

An associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field like mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering would be preferred. Experience working with Entrust/Datacard MX series and Mühlbauer or comparable card personalization systems is highly desired. Experience troubleshooting Konica Minolta, Canon, or similar commercial/high-volume digital production printers would also be helpful.

EQUIPMENT ENGINEER DAY-TO-DAY

You'll play a key part in upholding efficient work operations, maintaining equipment functionality, and driving continuous improvements in our work processes. This is a hands-on role that requires technical problem-solving skills for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues and executing the appropriate solutions. The Equipment Engineer coordinates with production, maintenance, quality, and IT teams to support equipment reliability and reduce production downtime.

Following manuals and diagrams, you'll perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and analyze recurring equipment failures to resolve repeating problems. Your efforts will help optimize machine performance, improve reliability, and reduce operational disruptions, making a long-lasting positive impact. Additionally, you'll assist with equipment setup, configuration, changeovers, and upgrades as well as support the installation, testing, and validation of new machinery or technology. During complex cases, you may need to collaborate with equipment manufacturers or technical vendors to appropriately resolve the issue. You'll also help train less experienced maintenance techs, machine operators, and other team members as needed to maintain work quality, efficiency, and safety.
