Job description

TAG Systems USA is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of equipment within our secure card manufacturing and personalization facility.

This mid-level position requires hands-on experience in card personalization, high-volume digital printing, and automated mail-inserting equipment.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical familiarity with industry-standard production systems and advanced print-on-demand workflows.

Preferred Technical Expertise

• Automated Inserting Machinery: BlueCrest Epic and Bell + Howell high-volume inserting systems.
• Production Printing Systems: Konica Minolta, Canon, or equivalent high-volume commercial production digital presses.

The Equipment Engineer will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and IT to maximize equipment reliability, reduce downtime, troubleshoot technical issues, and support the installation and implementation of new equipment and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical failures across all production machinery to minimize downtime.
• Deliver specialized technical support for card personalization systems, including Entrust/Datacard MX series and Mühlbauer platforms.
• Maintain and troubleshoot automated inserting systems, specifically BlueCrest Epic and Bell + Howell equipment.
• Provide advanced technical support for high-volume digital production presses, including Konica Minolta and Canon systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
• Analyze recurring equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective solutions.
• Partner with Production and Maintenance to minimize downtime and improve machine performance, throughput, and efficiency.
• Support equipment setup, configuration, changeovers, adjustments, upgrades, and production troubleshooting.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, testing, and validation of new machinery, printers, and production equipment.
• Work with equipment manufacturers and technical vendors to troubleshoot complex issues and coordinate repairs, replacement parts, and upgrades.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, automation, safety, and overall production performance.
• Provide technical training and guidance to Maintenance Technicians, Machine Operators, and other employees as needed.
• Ensure all work complies with Company safety, quality, security, and confidentiality requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
• 3–5+ years of hands-on equipment engineering, field service, maintenance engineering, or automated manufacturing equipment experience.
• Experience working with : Entrust/Datacard MX series and Mühlbauer or comparable card personalization systems, strongly preferred.
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Konica Minolta, Canon, or similar commercial/high-volume digital production printers strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, motors, pneumatics, controls, and automated production equipment.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting high-speed automated manufacturing and printing equipment.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work hands-on with manufacturing and printing machinery and equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform equipment troubleshooting and repair activities as required.
• Flexibility to support multiple shifts or respond to critical equipment issues outside of standard business hours when necessary.
• Must comply with all Company safety, security, confidentiality, and access-control requirements.
