Description
Burns & McDonnell is looking for an Equipment CAD Technician to join a team of professionals who work on a wide range of exciting and challenging projects creating world-class designs for Capital Equipment installations in a government manufacturing facility.
Successful candidates will perform various phases of planning, site evaluations, and preparation of construction documentation and plans as part of project teams. Will work primarily modeling manufacturing equipment and creating equipment layouts based on information provided by each project. What You Will Do
- Plan and develop drawings for production work including design equipment layouts of substantial variety and complexity.
- Produce complete project deliverable drawings and models from verbal or written descriptions from the design engineer and/or client.
- Create equipment 3D models from manufacturer's cut sheets.
- Execute changes to designs or sketches and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects.
- Complete and review design drawings for quality assurance within scope, budget and schedule.
- Responsible for the revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information are stored in a logical and well-structured manner.
- Perform a variety of assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques including drawing sequence and presentation, incorporating various system components, and refining rough sketches. Follow all company, client and project design and drafting standards.
- Execute basic formulas, principles and practices, and use acquired knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices.
- Perform projects tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
- Responsible for clear and concise written and verbal communications, as it relates to the project client coordination.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and coursework in drafting technology required.
- Specialized CAD certification preferred.
- Bachelor or Associate Degree in computer aided drafting/design strongly preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Security Clearance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Basic understanding of design software such as Revit and AutoCAD, to develop the design deliverables (Revit experience preferred).
- Basic knowledge in design, calculations and design systems.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers and Designers) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, restrictions, or need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
