Job summary

Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, located at Hagyard Laboratory, seeks a Laboratory Microbiology and PCR Technician. The role involves performing analyses across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and related tests, with emphasis on QC and accurate reporting.

Eligible MT/MLT certifications are required or equivalent, with preferred prior equine lab experience. The position reports to the Lab Manager and requires on-site presence.

Qualifications

• Must be a Medical Technologist (MT, ASCP certified or AMT) or equivalent.
• Previous equine/animal laboratory experience is preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures; communicate findings.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory analysis in hematology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology and special tests.
• Provide support to all laboratory areas and report results per guidelines.
• Perform daily quality control on automated equipment.
• Assist with maintenance guidelines and inventory management.
• Train new employees and share technical information with staff.
