Job summary

CSU Veterinary Health is seeking an Equine Breeding Farm Intern for a 6‑month program starting January 8, 2027 and ending July 19, 2027 in Fort Collins, CO. The internship provides on‑the‑job training in stallion and mare service, semen handling, and foaling management.

Interns rotate through 3 service areas with weekend/on‑call duties, and housing is available on-site with rent required. Applicants should have a BS in Equine Sciences or related field and a valid driver's license, with a strong

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Equine Sciences, Animal Science or related discipline.
  • Willingness to work variable shifts including nights and weekends.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and handling horses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Stallion and Mare Service including horse handling and record keeping.
  • Aid veterinarians in mares, stallions and foals exams and procedures.
  • Assist with semen collection, insemination, embryo transfer and hormone therapies.
  • Support laboratory duties such as cleaning, stocking, autoclaving and equipment care.
