Job summary

Colorado State University’s Equine Reproduction Laboratory is seeking applicants for the Equine Breeding Farm Internship, starting January 8, 2027 and ending July 19, 2027. The program provides on-the-job training in equine breeding farm procedures and management, with a defined rotation through Stallion Service, Mare Service, and Weekend/Overnight Duty.

Applicants should have a BS in Equine Sciences, Animal Science, or related discipline, and eligibility to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Equine Sciences, Animal Science, or related discipline.
• Applicants should have completed a BS in Equine Sciences, Animal Science, or related discipline.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by start date.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Stallion Service and Mare Service with horse handling, record keeping, medications, and routine medical care.
• Assist veterinarians in examination, semen collection/evaluation, insemination, hormone therapy, and embryo transfer procedures.
• Monitor late-term pregnant mares and assist during foaling; provide on-call support as needed.
• Assist with medical care of stallions, mares, and foals; transport to JFEH if needed.
• Support general laboratory functions including cleaning, stocking, autoclaving, and reception duties.
