Job summary

LoveWay, Inc. seeks an experienced Equine Programs Manager to oversee care, health, nutrition, schedule, and training of the equine staff.

You will supervise Barn Assistants and volunteers, coordinate veterinary, farrier, and massage services, and ensure safety and quality across the facility. You will lead care programs, manage facilities, and collaborate with instructors and staff to deliver a high standard of horse welfare and client service.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Degree in Equine Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Ability to drive and maneuver farm equipment.
  • Excellent horse care experience including horses with special needs or age-related issues.
  • Horse training and riding experience and current with the equine industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize.
  • Physically demanding; lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and work outside in all weather; on-call for emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee horse feeding and watering; post care instructions in barn and on board.
  • Ensure nutrition and care for all horses including water, hay, grain, supplements; administer first aid and vaccines.
  • Train and schedule Barn Assistants and volunteers for feeding shifts.
  • Schedule farrier, vet, and massage; be the point of contact for horse-related services.
  • Be on call for equine emergencies and manage on-call schedule.
  • Maintain detailed horse files and health records; track lease, donations, and changes.
  • Manage facility maintenance for arenas, stalls, pastures, etc.
  • Create master horse schedule and daily substitute system for classes.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers; maintain tack room and charts.
  • Ensure tack safety checks and proper tack; equipment must be safe and well-fitted.
