Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin seeks an Epidemiologist II to lead complex epidemiological analyses for diverse public health topics. You will oversee data dissemination and serve as the subject matter expert on epidemiological concepts for dashboards and data products.

The role collaborates with GIS and data visualization teams, uses Tableau, SAS, R, SQL, and Python, and supports disaster response and continuity planning as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in epidemiology, infectious diseases, biostatistics, or related field preferred.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Experience using SAS, R, SQL or other analytical software is expected.

Responsibilities

• Researches and performs complex epidemiological analyses for public health topics.
• Translates analyses into effective data visualizations and messaging for the public.
• Provides recommendations for data dissemination products and dashboards across program areas.
• Performs data management and ensures quality of datasets and products.
