Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England is seeking a Referrals Support Specialist to join our Hartford area team. You will work under the Referrals Supervisor to keep the referral process running smoothly and collaborate with clinical and customer service staff.

The role emphasizes accurate data handling in the Epic system, timely pre-authorization workflows, and responsive patient registration activities, with a focus on clear communication and problem solving.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years' healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience in medical office or billing preferred; knowledge of patient billing.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; EPIC experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process and prescreen electronic Epic Referrals Workqueue for completeness, urgency, and other criteria.
• Complete pre-authorization workflows; contact insurers to ensure prior approvals.
• Review and update patient registration for eligibility and PCP selection.
• Enter referrals into Trinity Health Of NE MGPS per protocols; provide feedback as needed.
• Inform maintenance analyst of payor, benefit, and provider contact updates.
• Answer incoming calls; assist internal and external customers with referral questions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Manager and Supervisor.
