Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Secaucus, NJ (hybrid; 3 days on site) seeks an Epic Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) to lead the installation, performance, and reliability of the Epic IRIS ODB in Azure for a high-volume diagnostic lab.

You will coordinate with Epic Beaker analysts, cloud engineers, and support teams to ensure zero downtime, implement disaster recovery, and optimize HL7v2 and FHIR transactions in a national-scale environment. Travel is <25%.

Qualifications

Active Epic ODBA certification required with ongoing recertification.
7+ years hands-on InterSystems Caché/IRIS DBA experience in enterprise systems.
Experience managing high-volume Epic DB workloads in Azure.
Deep knowledge of Azure storage tiers, VM clustering, and HA configurations.
Proficient in Unix/Linux (RHEL) administration and automation scripting.

Responsibilities

Install and provision Epic DB environments in Azure (Production/Reporting/DR/Training).
Use IaC (Terraform) to deploy scalable Azure DB infrastructure.
Test volume handling for HL7v2 and FHIR transactions with lab analysts.
Configure multi-region DR, backups, and failover procedures.
Monitor health, performance, and keep high availability.
Perform Epic upgrades and routine maintenance per change control.
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations for incidents.
