In this remote role, you will focus on Inpatient Order Entry, Provider Documentation, and Infection Control applications, helping clinical teams streamline workflows and improve patient care. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, operational leaders, technical teams, and external vendors to translate clinical requirements into effective technology solutions. From system design and configuration to testing, implementation, and troubleshooting, you will play a key role in ensuring reliable and efficient clinical systems. Your work will also support infection prevention initiatives, antimicrobial stewardship, and regulatory reporting requirements. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented healthcare technology professional who combines clinical workflow knowledge with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Accountabilities
  • Support Epic inpatient applications: Serve as the primary application support contact for end users, providing functional and technical assistance for Inpatient Order Entry, Provider Documentation, and Infection Control modules.
  • Configure and optimize clinical systems: Analyze business requirements and clinical workflows, translate operational needs into system configurations, and implement application changes that improve usability, efficiency, and patient care.
  • Manage application troubleshooting: Identify, investigate, and resolve application issues, including problems affecting other integrated systems, while coordinating with relevant technical teams and support resources.
  • Lead workflow design and testing: Collaborate with clinical stakeholders to design workflows, build and configure system functionality, conduct testing, document outcomes, and support implementations of medium to high complexity.
  • Support clinical order management: Ensure physician orders and associated downstream workflows are appropriately supported within the EHR, including order entry, medication-related processes, and integrated clinical documentation.
  • Strengthen infection control workflows: Support infection prevention applications, reporting processes, and clinical workflows related to hospital infection control policies, regulatory compliance, and surveillance requirements.
  • Assist antimicrobial stewardship initiatives: Help maintain workflows associated with antimicrobial prescribing and dispensing, pharmacy clinical monitoring, relevant laboratory results, and antimicrobial usage and resistance reporting.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and vendors: Act as a liaison between end users, operational leadership, internal application teams, and external software representatives to ensure system functionality meets clinical and organizational needs.
  • Participate in project implementation: Contribute to project planning, requirements analysis, system configuration, testing, documentation, implementation activities, and ongoing optimization while keeping deliverables aligned with established timelines.
  • Provide training and end-user guidance: Help users understand system functionality, support adoption of updated workflows, answer questions, and contribute to training activities that promote effective system utilization.
  • Monitor project status and performance: Maintain regular communication with leadership and team members regarding deliverables, application issues, user concerns, project milestones, and operational priorities.
  • Maintain system quality and compliance: Follow applicable healthcare technology standards, organizational policies, security practices, and regulatory requirements while supporting reliable clinical operations.
  • Collaborate and contribute to continuous improvement: Build strong working relationships, share knowledge with colleagues, adapt to changing priorities, and identify opportunities to improve application performance and clinical workflows.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Clinical Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Computer Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in healthcare or information technology. A nursing degree or RN background is preferred but not required.
  • Epic certification: Certification in the relevant Epic application is required upon hire or must be obtained within nine months of employment.
  • Relevant experience: Previous experience working with inpatient order entry, provider documentation, infection control applications, or comparable clinical information systems is preferred.
  • Inpatient clinical workflow knowledge: Understanding of hospital operations and inpatient workflows, including physician order entry, clinical documentation, and the downstream processes initiated by medical orders.
  • Epic application expertise: Experience with EpicCare Order Entry, Provider Documentation, and Bugsy is advantageous.

  • Regulatory reporting familiarity: Knowledge of NHSN Antimicrobial Use and Resistance (AUR) reporting requirements is beneficial.
  • Technical proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to work effectively with clinical software, application configuration tools, and technical documentation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to assess complex workflows, identify root causes, evaluate technical issues, and develop practical solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Project and implementation skills: Experience with system testing, documentation, implementation support, workflow analysis, and coordination of application-related projects is desirable.
