Job summary

OCHIN is a 100% remote health IT nonprofit powering a nationwide provider network. We’re seeking an IT Manager, EPIC DATA SYSTEMS to lead the Epic platform teams delivering secure, high-availability infrastructure for OCHIN and members.

You’ll drive incident management, change control, capacity planning, and continuous improvement while mentoring a remote staff. The role requires 7–10+ years in infrastructure with Epic experience and remote leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• 7–10+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering or operations, including experience supporting enterprise application platforms in 24x7 production environments
• 3–5 years of experience managing a remote team of 10, including performance management, team development, and delivery ownership is REQUIRED
• Demonstrated experience leading teams responsible for Epic technical infrastructure, including one or more of the following: Epic operational database (ODB) operations, Epic client and presentation tiers, Epic web and service servers
• Experience supporting high-availability environments, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
• Experience establishing service levels, reliability targets, and operational metrics
• Demonstrated ownership of incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives
• Strong communication skills, with ability to convey complex technical concepts to leadership and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with ITIL-based processes (change, incident, problem management)
• Experience managing or influencing technology costs, vendor relationships, and/or consumption management

Responsibilities

• Owns the reliability, performance, availability, and lifecycle management of the Epic technical environment
• Leads, develops, and motivates the Epic technical team (Server Systems and Client Systems)
• Provides leadership oversight for Epic Server Systems operations (ODB, backups, monitoring, performance, capacity, high availability)
• Provides leadership oversight for Epic Client Systems services (Hyperspace, Hyperspace Web, Interconnect, Kuiper, EPS, BCA, BI RESTful, ARR, System Pulse)
• Ensures effective 24x7 operational coverage including incident response, escalation management, and after-hours support
• Sets and enforces operational standards (monitoring, patching, access controls, runbooks)
• Owns incident, problem, and change management practices for Epic platforms
• Partners with Epic application owners and IT leaders to deliver capabilities and coordinate timelines
• Establishes priorities and ensures on-time, on-budget delivery
• Monitors service performance metrics and drives continuous improvement
• Communicates performance, incidents, risks, and changes to leadership and members
• Oversees onboarding, training, and staff development
• Maintains vendor relationships, contracts, and budget accountability
• Fosters a culture of accountability and collaboration
• Performs other duties as assigned
