Job summary

Intermountain Health in West Valley City, Utah, is seeking a highly skilled medical coder to accurately evaluate and resolve coding edits in Epic WQs, and assign CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes and modifiers. Ideal candidates have CPC or CCS-P credentials, at least five years of professional coding experience (three in a specialty), and proficiency with Epic Resolute and MS Office.

This 40-hour workweek offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum five (5) years of pro fee coding experience with at least three (3) years within the assigned specialty service line.
• CPC Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or CCS-P credential is required.
• Epic/PB Resolute experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Navigate Epic EMR and related reports/work queues.
• Evaluate and resolve coding edits in Charge Review, Claim Edit, and Follow-up work queues in Epic.
• Review documentation and assign CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 codes and modifiers.
• Evaluate coding bundling guidelines and modifier usage.
• Understand the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
• Communicate coding/denial trends to coding leadership.
• Communicate with providers via Epic in-basket and email.
• Work with Microsoft Office products and Optum Encoder Pro.
• Provide education/training for providers and coders.
• Perform quality assurance audits within the specialty team.
• Ensure compliance with coding regulations and guidelines; assist leadership with communications and workflows.
• Investigate coding requests related to the specialty area as needed.
• Promote Intermountain Health’s mission and values; adhere to service behavior standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
