Job summary

E Ink Corporation in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced engineer or applied physicist to explore active-matrix backplane design, electrical behavior, and drive schemes for electrophoretic displays.

The role spans device-level to panel-level studies, developing tests, models, and improved drive methods, with collaboration across waveform, materials, and product-development teams to advance image quality, power efficiency, and reliability.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, Materials Science, or closely related field.
• Experience with active-matrix displays, TFT backplanes, semiconductor devices, pixel circuits, and drive electronics.
• Strong understanding of device/circuit behavior, transient response, parasitics, leakage, switching, noise, and electrical measurement.
• Ability to design experiments and connect observations to physical models.
• Hands-on proficiency with lab instruments and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundamental research into interactions among backplanes, electrophoretic materials, drive electronics, and waveform operation.
• Study how TFTs, backplanes, and addressing modes affect display response and energy usage.
• Design controlled experiments to isolate mechanisms and validate models.
• Develop models linking backplane behavior to electo-optical response.
• Collaborate across waveform, materials, backplane, controller, and product teams.
• Communicate results through reports, reviews, and IP documentation.
