Job summary

HCA Healthcare seeks an Electrophysiology (EP) Technologist to support physicians in diagnostic and interventional EP studies, pacemaker and ICD implantations, and patient education. You will assist in procedures, monitor patients, and participate in quality improvement while maintaining ICARE standards.

You will work with a team to ensure safety and high standards of care, preparing patients and providing ongoing education to families and staff in a dynamic electrophysiology lab.

Qualifications

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of employment start date.
• Associate Degree, or Certificate.
• ARRT-R, RCIS, or RCES certification must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and assist during diagnostic and interventional EP procedures.
• Assist with insertion/removal of pacemakers and ICDs.
• Monitor, record, and report patient symptoms and condition changes.
• Plan and implement care for patients undergoing EP procedures.
• React promptly to emergencies during procedures.
• Provide pre- and post-procedure education to patients and families.
• Provide hemodynamic monitoring support during EP procedures.
• Precept new staff and share knowledge with peers.
• Contribute to the department's quality improvement efforts.
• Prepare patients for examinations or treatments and assist as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of EP procedures and pursue ongoing education.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Electrophysiology (EP) Technologist, you will demonstrate expertise in patient care, assessment, and the range of treatments related to electrophysiology procedures. You will assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional EP studies as well as pacemaker and ICD implantations. This role requires in-depth knowledge of human growth and development, as well as the ability to work with a variety of patients, ensuring high standards of care and safety throughout procedures. The EP Technologist plays a key role in patient preparation, procedural assistance, and patient education, as well as supporting quality improvement initiatives within the department.

What You Will Do In This Role:

• Assist physicians by scrubbing/assisting during diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures.

• Assist physicians during the insertion and removal of devices, such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs).

• Monitor, record, and report patient symptoms and changes in condition.

• Assess, plan, and implement care for patients undergoing electrophysiology procedures.

• React quickly and appropriately to emergency situations during procedures.

• Communicate pre- and post-procedure education to patients and their families.

• Provide hemodynamic monitoring assistance during electrophysiology procedures.

• Actively participate in precepting new employees and sharing knowledge with peers.

• Contribute to the department’s continuous quality improvement efforts.

• Prepare patients for examinations or treatments and assist as necessary.

• Maintain and update knowledge of EP procedures, continuing education as needed to perform daily duties effectively.

• Uphold the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values.

What qualifications you will need:

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

• Associate Degree, or Certificate

• (ARRT-R) Radiography, or (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, or (RCES) Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
