The City University of New York's Bronx Educational Opportunity Center seeks an EOC Academic Advisor to develop and administer initiatives that increase HSE and college awareness, and to promote student persistence and retention.
You will provide individual and group academic advising, maintain student records, analyze data for program improvement, and present outcomes at meetings; experience in higher education counseling and knowledge of admissions and aid in NY metro area preferred.
The EOC Academic Advisor will report to the Director of Student Affairs at the Bronx Educational Opportunity Center (Bronx EOC). The EOC Academic Advisor will assist in developing and administering initiatives designed to increase High School Equivalency (HSE) and college awareness, as well as implement data-driven strategies to promote student persistence and retention among students enrolled in Bronx EOC programs.
The EOC Academic Advisor will provide academic advising and support to students individually and in group settings. Responsibilities will include maintaining accurate records for enrolled students, providing academic and educational guidance, conducting outreach to support HSE enrollment and student engagement, and utilizing student data to identify opportunities for improving persistence and retention.
The EOC Academic Advisor will also prepare, analyze, and present program and student outcome data at internal and external meetings, conferences, and other professional forums. The position will collaborate with staff and stakeholders to support student success and advance the academic and career goals of Bronx EOC students.
Bachelor's degree required.
Bronx EOC is seeking applicants with experience in higher education counseling, social work, advisement, or a related field. Knowledgeable in college admissions, financial aid and higher education opportunities in the New York metropolitan area with specific experience with diverse urban populations desirable. Prior experience (1-2 years) in advisement of adult learners a plus. Second language proficiency in Spanish preferred.
