Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking an Electro Optical System Engineer for its Space team to lead the integration of EO payloads on spacecraft from concept through on‑orbit execution.

The role requires experience with payload architecture, performance modeling, lab testing, and system validation. Candidates should be adept at cross‑disciplinary collaboration and clear risk communication, with hands‑on experience in optical labs.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background in Systems/Physics/ME/EE.
• Experience with assembly, integration and test of space payloads.
• Knowledge of optical test equipment and methodologies.
• Experience with photon transfer, radiometry, PSF/MTF, boresight alignment.
• Ability to communicate risk and progress to customers and vendors.
• Experience writing technical documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform concept designs of active and passive EO payloads.
• Derive system and unit level requirements.
• Analyze performance with understanding of payload physics.
• Create test plans and procedures for laboratory validation.
• Characterize and calibrate radiometric and geometric performance of flight hardware.
• Develop ICDs covering payload interfaces across electrical, data, mechanical, and optical domains.
• Train others to conduct payload testing and integrate across teams.
• Define on-orbit calibration sequences and provide real-time support during operations.
