Job summary

University of North Texas in Denton seeks an EO/ADA Program Assistant to coordinate and deliver EO/ADA training for faculty, staff and students.

The role collaborates with the EO Director and ADA Coordinator to ensure accessibility training is embedded across programs and that records are kept confidential and compliant with FERPA and ADA requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Higher Education, Business Administration, or related field and two years' directly related experience working with EO/ADA laws and compliance, engaging in the interactive process for workplace accommodations, and the creation and delivery of related training and coordination, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver comprehensive EO (Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and ADAAA) training programs, including in person, virtual, ad hoc, and department specific sessions.
  • Support the development, updating, and maintenance of training materials, presentations, and resource guides.
  • Manage annual and recurring compliance mandated training schedules across the System.
  • Ensure accurate records are maintained in a confidential manner in keeping with the System and component institution’s document retention regulations, policies, privacy laws, FERPA and ADA requirements.
  • Track training completion and compliance, prepare reports, analyze data and maintain accurate training records.
  • Design and deliver training, workshops and resource documents on accessibility best practices for faculty and staff. Work in close collaboration with Student Affairs and disability related services.
  • Facilitate EO related events, workshops, awareness activities, in addition to communication and educational initiatives.

Position Overview

The Equal Opportunity (EO) & Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Specialist supports the UNT System (including all component institutions) commitment to equal opportunity, access, and compliance by coordinating and delivering EO-related training and assisting with ADA and workplace accommodation processes. This role ensures timely, accurate, and customer centered support for EO and ADA. It also ensures that EO training is seamlessly woven throughout all programmatic aspects of EO. The EO & ADA Specialist works in close consultation with the ADA Coordinator and EO Director to develop related training for faculty, staff and students.

Job Duties
Training & Education

Case Management & Administrative Support
  • Create new ADA cases, ensuring accuracy and timely entry into the case management system.
  • Provide initial outreach communication to involved parties and clear communication regarding process steps.
  • Manage the ADA general inbox, ensuring timely responses, case set up and proper routing of inquiries.
  • Assist the Workplace Accommodation Administrator (WAA) with case monitoring via coordination of feedback, escalating concerns to the WAA, and documenting in case management system (prepare and distribute weekly case data reports, including but not limited to: new, active, and closed cases; resolution dates and outcomes)
  • Serve as backup to the WAA during absences, providing continuity of service with case management and communication.
  • Assist in managing religious accommodations.
  • Monitor and track compliance with flexible work arrangement and remote work submissions as approved for ADA accommodations.
Cross Functional Support
  • Collaborate with internal partners to support EO, ADA, and institutional compliance priorities.
