The Office of Disability Access (ODA) at the University of North Texas exists to prevent discrimination on the basis of disability and to help students reach a higher level of independence. It is the mission of the ODA to engage and collaborate with faculty and other campus partners to ensure students with disabilities at the University of North Texas have access to all university programs, services, and activities; and provide a platform for accessible pedagogical innovation.
The Office of Disability Access at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Access Coordinator to join our team. Coordinators are primarily responsible for facilitating access to the academic programs, services, activities, and facilities of the institution. This position will work with a caseload of students, and serve as a liaison to other on‑campus resources who work with this student population for better coordination of services and resources; collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to create an accessible campus environment; work one‑on‑one with students with disabilities to determine barriers to access; provide university‑wide consultation, education and training on the social construction of disability and the intersections of disability with social and physical environments; and assist with coordination of student accommodation services.
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Communicating with others to exchange information. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
