Job summary

Resource Options, Inc. (ROI) seeks an Environmental Technician / Fit Tester to perform NIOSH respirator fit tests for healthcare staff. The role requires reliability, a willingness to travel to multiple hospital sites, and comfortable wear of PPE in hospital environments.

Shifts are 6:30 AM–4:00 PM with potential overtime; 25.00/hr, Mon–Fri; travel across New England locations possible. ROI supports equal opportunity employment and a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• Environmental, occupational health, safety, or related experience.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort working inside hospitals and wearing PPE for extended periods.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work 8–12 hour shifts.
• Early start times (as early as 5:00 AM).
• Monday–Friday schedule with some weekend work.
• 24‑Hour HAZWOPER certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fit testing for NIOSH-certified respirators using OSHA-accepted fit test protocols.
• Train respirator users on the proper process for performing a user seal check.
• Refer respirator users for further evaluation if they are unable to successfully pass a fit test.
• Properly clean and wipe down fit testing equipment between sessions.
• Fit test multiple healthcare employees throughout the workday.
• Communicate clearly with employees and provide guidance throughout the fit testing process.
• Follow established safety procedures and protocols at all times.
• Maintain a clean and organized fit testing area and ensure equipment is properly maintained between sessions.
• Work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Represent the organization professionally while working within hospital environments.

Join a Leading Team as an Environmental Technician / Fit Tester! Are you a reliable and detail-oriented environmental professional looking to make a direct impact on employee health and safety? We are seeking dependable Environmental Technicians / Fit Testers to assist with respirator fit testing for healthcare employees across multiple hospital networks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an environmental or safety background who enjoys working with people, is comfortable in a healthcare environment, and takes pride in following established safety protocols. Fit testing is an OSHA-required process that ensures healthcare employees have access to properly fitting PPE. As an Environmental Technician / Fit Tester, you will play an important role in supporting hospital employees and ensuring respirator fit testing procedures are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with OSHA-accepted protocols.

• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to multiple hospital locations.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to consistently follow established procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Comfort working inside hospitals and wearing PPE for extended periods.
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work extended shifts, generally 8–12 hours.
• Ability to work early morning shifts, with start times potentially as early as 5:00 AM.
• Ability to efficiently fit test multiple employees throughout the day.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, with some weekend work available.
• 24-Hour HAZWOPER certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous respirator fit testing or respiratory protection experience.
• Previous environmental, industrial hygiene, or occupational health and safety experience.
• Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Experience working with PPE and respirators.
• OSHA-related safety or environmental experience.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.

Pay Range: $25.00/hr.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–4:00 PM Overtime: Available
