Responsibilities

• Hazard assessment of occupational and environmental hazards using calibrated equipment.
• Evaluate effectiveness of engineering controls like fume hoods and ventilation.
• Participate in inspections of machinery and equipment, including lifting devices and guards.
• Conduct workplace safety inspections and identify hazards and PPE compliance.
• Identify hazards (toxic vapors, mold, explosive gas-air mixtures) and assist with corrective actions.
• Assist with incident investigations and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Hazard Assessment: Measure occupational and environmental hazards such as noise and ergonomics using calibrated scientific equipment and collect samples of dust, vapors, and gases according to established procedures.
• Engineering Controls: Evaluate the effectiveness of engineered control systems, including fume hoods and ventilation systems.
• Equipment Inspections: Participate in inspections of machinery and equipment, including lifting devices, machine guards, and scaffolding.
• Workplace Safety Inspections: Conduct workplace safety inspections, evaluating personal protective equipment use and identifying potential safety and health hazards in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Hazard Identification & Control: Identify potential hazards including toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixtures and assist with implementing appropriate corrective and control measures.
• Incident Investigation: Assist with investigating workplace accidents and injuries, identifying contributing factors and recommending corrective actions.
• Client Support: Communicate directly with client personnel regarding workplace safety concerns and provide practical recommendations for corrective action.
• Safety Training: Conduct routine EH&S training programs, including new employee orientation, hazard communication, and forklift training.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare reports, accident documentation, and required OSHA recordkeeping forms.
• Program Development: Assist with developing and updating occupational health and safety policies, procedures, manuals, and compliance programs.

Qualifications

• EH&S Experience: 2+ years of experience in an environmental health and safety capacity.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field required.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with client personnel.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately document findings and recommendations.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.
• Driver's License: Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle required.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Consulting Experience: Prior experience providing professional EH&S consulting or advisory services to third-party clients.
• Industry Training: Completion of two or more industry-recognized trainings such as OSHA 10 or 30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, or DOT/IATA HAZMAT Transportation.
• Professional Involvement: Active membership in at least one national professional safety organization, including local chapters.
• Professional Development: Working toward obtaining a professional designation or certification such as CSP, CHMM, CIH, or another relevant credential.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific field required.

Pay range

$70,000-$90,000 annually
