Montrose Environmental Group is seeking an Environmental Field Technician in Tampa, FL, to support environmental solutions through hands-on operations and maintenance. A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a key member of our Environmental Solutions team, you’ll use your mechanical or electrical background to support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of environmental systems. This hands-on field role includes:
Serving as Team Lead and training junior staff
Operating environmental field instruments (e.g., PID/FID, pH/EC meters, GEM, LEL meters, Trimble GPS units)
Conducting environmental sampling, monitoring, and field testing at various sites
Operating and maintaining remediation and treatment systems (e.g., groundwater pumps, filtration units)
Performing routine electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of equipment and sensors
Reading system gauges, monitoring performance, and recording operational data
Completing Chain-of-Custody forms and delivering samples to labs
Following site-specific safety procedures and wearing appropriate PPE
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance; or equivalent military or technical training
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Willingness and ability to travel regularly
Able to lift and carry 50 lbs (equipment/tools)
HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, mobile data entry)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Electrical troubleshooting or system diagnostics experience
Background in pump systems, filtration units, or mechanical/electrical panels
Prior work in remediation, environmental fieldwork, or construction support
Familiarity with FDEP Petroleum Restoration Program SOPs
Supervisory experience in field or construction environments
Ability to read technical schematics and equipment manuals
