Job summary

WGNSTAR is seeking a full-time Waste Management Technician in Boise, ID. The role involves hazardous waste characterization, disposal, and regulatory compliance, with on-site training provided.

The schedule is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and alternating Wednesday, 5:45 AM - 6:00 PM, at a pay rate of $25 per hour. Requirements include 1+ years of relevant work experience or a degree/certifications, respiratory certification eligibility, and CFR49 certification maintenance, plus MS Office

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant work experience or appropriate certifications/licensing.
  • Ability to be respiratory certified.
  • Maintain CFR49 certification.
  • MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Characterize and dispose of waste per CFR49 and site guidelines.
  • Inspect waste accumulation areas to ensure compliance.
  • Pack, label, store, and manage waste materials before disposal.
  • Decontaminate empty drums per disposal guidelines.
  • Perform neutralization reactions to ensure chemical stability.
  • Conduct hazardous waste inspections and keep records per regulations.
  • Perform field sampling, testing, and measurements.
  • Load waste onto trucks using hoists or forklifts.
  • Maintain waste collection equipment and assist troubleshooting.
  • Monitor and operate SCADA or similar HMIs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Characterizeand properly dispose of waste for the site and maintain CFR49 certification.
  • Completeinspections of waste accumulation areas according to regulations.
  • Pack, label, store, move, and manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials prior to disposal.
  • Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and other containers according to RCRA and site disposal guidelines.
  • Perform neutralization reaction of waste material to ensure chemical stability prior to transport.
  • Conduct hazardous waste system inspections and maintain records according to RCRA regulations and site standards.
  • Performquantitative and qualitative analyses, such as field sampling, testing, and measuring.
  • Load hazardous and non-hazardous waste onto trucks or tankers, using hoists, forklifts, or other industrial equipment.
  • Performpreventative maintenance on waste chemical collection equipment and support troubleshooting activities.
  • Monitorand operate SCADA, or other human-machine interface applications.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience, relevant degree or appropriate certifications/licensing.
  • Ability to be respiratory certified.
  • Become and maintain current CFR49 certification.
  • Intermediate PC skills, including a familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferences
  • Relevant Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Previous military aviation, fleet or mechanics, and fuel specialist experience.
Physical Effort/Activities

May be required to walk up to 5+miles per day, able to be on feet for 8-10 hrs at a time, able tobend, twist, push/pull, crouch, kneel in confined spaces, work at heights, on a ladder, and lift up to 50-75 pounds. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
