Job summary

Teal Energi seeks an Environmental Tech Advisor to lead upstream environmental compliance, advising operations and leadership on permits, emissions reporting, and regulatory developments. You will manage LDAR, LiDAR, OGI surveys, audits, and contractor field programs, ensuring data quality and continuous improvement.

The role requires 7+ years in upstream environmental compliance, Texas/regulatory experience preferred, and strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geosciences, or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of air regulations, emissions reporting, Texas permitting, GHG reporting, SPCC, stormwater, waste management, and remediation programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental compliance programs related to air, water, waste, remediation, chemical storage, and related environmental requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and ensure compliance across operations.
  • Advise operations teams on permitting requirements, compliance obligations, environmental risks, and regulatory developments.
  • Support environmental due diligence activities for acquisitions, divestitures, and new business opportunities.
  • Lead emissions inventory development, calculations, tracking, reporting, and data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare air permits, emissions calculations, and related regulatory documentation.
  • Manage environmental reporting and compliance filings, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance environmental performance and reporting efficiency.
  • Manage environmental contractors and field programs, including LDAR, LiDAR, OGI leak surveys, AVO programs, inspections, and sampling activities.
  • Lead or support remediation projects, site assessments, spill response activities, corrective actions, and environmental investigations.
  • Maintain environmental records, site inventories, facility diagrams, and compliance documentation.
  • Support implementation and management of Responsibly Sourced Gas (RSG) initiatives.
  • Lead audit readiness activities, compliance reviews, corrective action tracking, and environmental data validation.
  • Support agency inspections, regulatory audits, and compliance investigations.
  • Deliver environmental training and awareness programs for field and office personnel.
  • Prepare environmental updates and presentations for leadership and stakeholders

Job description

Our client is looking for an Environmental Tech Advisor to lead environmental compliance efforts for upstream oil and gas operations. This role serves as the primary environmental subject matter expert, supporting operations, leadership, regulatory agencies, and business partners in maintaining compliance, improving environmental performance, managing emissions reporting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties:
Environmental Compliance & Regulatory Management
  • Lead environmental compliance programs related to air, water, waste, remediation, chemical storage, and related environmental requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and ensure compliance across operations.
  • Advise operations teams on permitting requirements, compliance obligations, environmental risks, and regulatory developments.

Emissions, Reporting & Data Management

Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geosciences, Applied Science, or a related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of environmental compliance experience within upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Texas environmental and regulatory experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading environmental compliance programs, permitting activities, emissions reporting, audits, and regulatory interactions.
  • Strong knowledge of air regulations, emissions reporting, Texas permitting, GHG reporting, SPCC, stormwater, waste management, and remediation programs.
  • Experience managing environmental contractors, field inspection programs, and remediation activities.
  • Proficiency with environmental reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Professional Skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a collaborative environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
