Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, seeks a Level 1 Manager in Environmental Stewardship to lead the Department of Environmental Systems. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team delivering mission-critical environmental services, collaborating with internal partners and external stakeholders to manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes strategy development, budgeting, staff mentoring, and continuous improvement, with a strong ES&H culture and onsite work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or engineering plus 8+ years of environmental management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent (e.g., DOD Top Secret).

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering mission-enabling environmental services to protect workers and environment.
• Partner with line organizations and external stakeholders to manage environmental risk and drive continuous improvement.
• Set strategy and priorities by developing program plans aligned with mission needs and regulatory drivers.
• Plan and manage budgets and resources; justify resource needs and track performance.
• Establish metrics to evaluate effectiveness and drive data-informed decisions.
• Provide management and strategic direction for environmental programs including compliance and planning.
• Communicate high-level environmental requirements to enable risk-informed decisions.
• Ensure deliverables through staff management and prioritization of tasks.
